HU: Digital Detox: 24 Hours Offline and What It Taught Me

“An honest account of unplugging from all smart devices and reclaiming hours of stillness, observation, and focus.”

Our minds are constantly flooded with information. We check our phones an average of 150 times a day, fracturing our focus and filling our days with low-grade anxiety.

I decided to spend 24 full hours completely offline—no smartphone, no computer, no smart watch, and no TV. The first few hours were filled with phantom vibration syndrome and a restless urge to search.

“An honest account of unplugging from all smart devices and reclaiming hours of stillness, observation, and focus.”

But by afternoon, a wonderful stillness set in. I went for a walk without a podcast and actually heard the birds; I read fifty pages of a book without reaching for a dictionary app; I wrote a letter on real paper.

Reclaiming this uninterrupted attention is a reminder that we do not need to be constantly connected to feel alive. Unplugging helps us reconnect with our immediate, beautiful reality.
